I read an article about new hybrid jet engines that also mentioned the new airbus jumbo jet and other jets currently in service. They explained that the fuel used per person to fly, is significantly less than if that person were to drive the same distance in a car. This is true of all mass transit systems. So please feel free to rag our movie stars and politicians about the quantity of their travel, but not their means.
I would also like to mention that most of the produce we eat has been shipped hundreds of miles on wasteful diesel trucks. Just by shopping at your local farmers market or growing an organic garden in your back yard or patio, you can make a big difference on the environment, influence and encourage your nieghbors and children, and impress that green-minded special someone that you've got your eye on!
