Default People creating their own "dumps"

In my area it is common to see people placing trash bags in the woods and by the river. They also dispose of tires, old funiture and more. It always saddens me to see this.

Is there not someone you can report it to?

My local council is really hot in illegal tipping - they put cameras up in the worst areas and are very pro-active about prosecuting offenders.

Behind my neighbourhood people dump all sorts of stuff such as old televisions and especially fridges in a small forest/wooded area...about 3 sq km in size

That is a good suggestion above, to find someone in the local government to report all the dumping to and to see if they take action.

Sadly we do see people who have no respect for the land and will throw things away whenever and wherever they can.

Don't they have the decency to at least travel like 10 minutes to the nearest waste disposal center?

This happens a lot in the rural area where I live. I think the reasons are many . . . and people living in poverty and ignorance can't afford the cost of garbage pickup service or the gas money to drive 30 miles to the nearest solid waste station.

I've never really seen this, but I don't live in very close proximity to very many people. The forest behind my house has remained pretty clean over the years, but there is also a spare scrap of junk here and there.

Fortunately I've never seen this...hopefully those caught would be fined largely.
