I am at about 2 KWHs per day. Was at 15 KWHs about 3 years ago.

You can see my real time usage here via TED:

Yes it is worth it. I was already at 2 KWHs per day prior to getting the TED. Was reading the meter each day. Well fall/winter got here and reading it at night when it was cold and raining got old real quick.

The up side was with the Firefox plugin, am able to see when the washer/dryer are done their loads. Can't hear the buzzer upstairs.

Default How often do you use your stove?

Since your stove is electric, how often do you cook with it.

You would be surprised to know how much it uses in electricity.

When my mother comes to visit I can tell. She loves to cook and TED let me know how much. She came to visit just for the weekend. I used an extra 8 to 10 kWhrs Saturday and Sunday (Each day, without the AC on).

Since you have Gas, have you thought about switching to gas for everything you can. That is of coarse assuming you want to have an increased gas bill and not an overall utility usage decrease.

Bill no offense but I find that very hard to believe, especially since your home was built in 1942. I bet there are a lot of things you can to reduce your energy uses like upgrading all appliances and mechanical systems, doors, windows, and insulation. You get a lot more bang for your buck by home improvements than alternative energy.

We have a 2300sqft two story house and our usage over the last year is about 34Kwh / day. How ever in the last few months I have been working on reducing our loads and have brought our usage down to about 16Kwh per day which is just over 500 / month.

When were not home I have managed to bring the house power down to 260 - 300 watts (this was down from 500-600)
House was built in 2002. (Second owner)

Electric Dryer
Electric Stove
Gas Heat (forced air)
Gas Water Heater
BIG-OLD A/C

Largest Power Consumers:
Electric Cooking (I love my kitchen do-dads )
Electric Dryer (Cant seem to convince my wife other methods since we live in a city)

Improvements:
CFL's throughout the house (44 cfl's in all and 11 inc bulbs)
x10 socket management system to automate powering off loads
replaced fridge with two chest freezers (one using external therm)
Added window a/c units upstairs to reduce a/c usage over summer
TED to monitor utility usage
5-1-1 programmable thermostat

Plans:
Convert to gas cooking
Convert to no demand water heater

Is you heat, forced hot air or is it hydronic baseboard.

If hydronic, look into in-direct hot water storage tanks.
