Default induction cooktop

Does anyone have an induction cooktop?
I have read that use almost 50% less electricity then a normal electric cooktop? True?

I had one in a previous home, its OK I guess but you do have to have ferrous metal cookware for it to work. Yes it is more efficient than resistive elements because no heat is lost, or not as much heat is lost. But for me nothing better than LPG of NG for a cooktop.
